Dear Members of Turner Monumental AME Church,
Grace and peace to you. As we approach the dawn of the 2024-2025 Conference Year, I believe it is important that we improve the process of selecting our church's Stewards and Trustees with intentionality, thoughtfulness, and prayer. These positions are not mere responsibilities to be assigned; rather, they are sacred duties that require our complete devotion and a pledge to serve selflessly.
To honor the importance of these roles, I am implementing an Expression of Interest process to identify and evaluate persons to serve for this upcoming conference year. This process aims to ensure that the selection of Stewards and Trustees is fair, inclusive, and deliberate. It is a deliberate step away from the traditional practice of automatic reappointment based on tenure, towards a more thoughtful approach that considers the growing needs of our church and the unique gifts that each member brings.
The selection process we are implementing seeks to strike a balance between the strategic needs of our church's future and the skills and talents of our members. It recognizes the ever-evolving nature of service and leadership within our spiritual community. This process presents an opportunity for growth, new ideas to be heard, and continuous renewal in our approach to leadership. It's important to note that this change is not a reflection on the valuable service provided by past leaders nor is it a limitation on the potential for future contributions.
I would like to invite every member of our congregation to consider submitting an Expression of Interest for serving in our church. This opportunity is open to all who have been a part of our church family for at least two consecutive years and are in good and regular standing. The aim of this transparent process is to determine not only the readiness but also the vision and spiritual alignment of the interested members with our church's mission. I encourage anyone who is interested in serving or has served before to participate in this process.
I encourage all of you to take some time to reflect, pray and discern whether you feel called to serve in these important roles. Your voice, service and leadership are valuable and have a significant impact. Let this be a process of meaningful spiritual engagement as we strive to fulfill the mission that has been entrusted to us by God.
In His service,
Pastor J.B. Cooper, II
Turner Monumental AME Church
